The Boone area ski slopes are about an hour away for Appalachian Memories. Appalachian Ski Mountain is a little closer and is located between Boone and Blowing Rock. Shopping is abundant in the mountains. You definitely want to check out the Tanger Outlets in Blowing Rock, downtown Blowing Rock tourist shops, Downtown West Jefferson Art District and the Boone Mall. Boone area attractions are a big hit also, Tweetsie Railroad, Grandfather Mountain and Linville Caverns all attract thousands of visitors each year.
