Q. Are there any fees in addition to the rent?
A. We don’t charge a cleaning fee as long as the cabin is left in the same check-in condition as you found it. There is a $20 reservation fee and tax. If you prefer to pay the cleaning fee, it is only $50.

Q. How much is the security deposit?
A. We charge either a $200 refundable security deposit or you can purchase a security deposit waiver for $45. The waiver covers $1500 of unintentional damage but does not cover intentional damage or cleaning/laundry charges that are incurred. Your credit card number is held but is not charged unless there is intentional damage or a charge for cleaning.

Q. How much of a deposit do you require to book?
A. If you are coming in more than 15 days out, we require half the rent plus any fees and that apply at booking. The remainder of the rent, taxes and security deposit are due 15 days prior to arrival. If your arrival date is less than 15 days out, we require payment in full.

Q. How do I get the key?
A. All of the cabins have lockboxes. The lockbox code will be on your direction page. Please make sure that you have your directions page before you leave home.

Q. Travel Insurance?
A. Travel insurance is available through our office and covers a variety of circumstances that could arise, such as death in the family, illness, weather delays, as well as acting as medical insurance on your trip, should someone in your party get injured or sick during your stay.

Q. What if I can’t find the cabin or have a problem while I am there?
A. My cell phone number is on the directions page and on a magnet in each of the cabins just in case you need my assistance.

Q. What is the tax rate?
A. 9.75% (6.75 state and 3 local)

Q. Is there a charge for pets?
A. There is a $30 nonrefundable pet fee per pet. Pets must be arranged in advance. Failure to pay a pet fee will result in eviction and a cleaning charge of $80. Some cabins are not pet friendly.

Q. Minimum stay?
A. 2 night minimum except 3 or 7 nights for holidays and peak leaf season depending on the cabin.

Q. Paperwork?
A. I will email your paperwork. Please read and sign the vacation rental agreement and policy pages and fax those back within 24 hours of receipt. That will confirm your reservation and we will debit your card at that point. We will email out your directions page the week that you are to arrive. Your emergency contact numbers are on your directions page just in case you were to have any trouble finding the cabin.

Q. Cancellation policy?
A. If we can rebook the cabin, we refund everything except the $50 cancellation charge and a $20 reservation fee. If we can’t rebook the cabin, we cannot do refunds.

Q. Do I need 4x4 to get to the cabin? Refund for snow?
A. We recommend 4x4 or chains in winter months. We can’t refund money due to weather. We do suggest vacation rental insurance especially during the winter months.

Q. No fax machine.
A. The forms can be scanned and emailed back or fax machines are available at most office supply stores.

Q. I don’t have a credit card.
A. Cashiers checks are accepted but must be mailed out the day that you book your cabin and received within 2 days. I will be happy to work with you any way that I can. Personal checks must be approved in advance and must be received by 15 days before check in.

Q. If I’m leaving on a Sunday, Thanksgiving or Christmas what do I do with my trash?
A. You may leave 1 bag at the cabin if you are leaving on a day that the convenience centers are closed. There will be directions to the dumpsters at the cabins.

Q. Are paper products provided?
A. Paper products are not provided. You will need to bring paper towels, toilet paper, trash bags, etc…

Q. Are linens provided?
A. Linens are provided at each cabin. Unless you pay for the cleaning fee, you are expected to wash and fold the linens on the morning of your departure. If you choose to pay the cleaning fee, just leave the linens on the floor in a pile in the bathroom.

Q. What is there to do in the mountains?
A. The mountains are perfect whether you just want to sit on the deck with a drink and a book enjoying the scenery or if want some adventure. There are many attractions on our High Country Attractions link or other great sites to get information are the Ashe County Chamber and the Boone Chamber of Commerce. If you have any questions, I will be glad to help you out.

Q. Lost, stolen, forgotten items?
A. Ashe Cabin Fever is not responsible for lost, stolen or forgotten items. Please make sure that you check the cabin carefully before your departure to ensure that you did not leave anything behind.
