Fishing
The NC Mountains provide a variety of trout streams, New River and lakes for fisherman from all around. Many of the trout streams in Ashe County are hatchery supported. Some of the local favorites are Big Horse Creek, Helton Creek, Buffalo Creek and Cranberry Creek. The New River is also stocked in many places and has an assortment of smallmouth bass and rock bass.
