Grandfather Mountain is a Spectacular NC Mountain Family Adventure
Grandfather Mountain offers something for everyone visiting the NC Mountains. At 5,964 feet, Grandfather Mountain North Carolina is the highest peak in the Blue Ridge Mountains. While visiting this Western North Carolina attraction, you’ll want to walk across the Mile High Swinging Bridge. The 228 foot long bridge provides access to amazing panoramic views.
Grandfather Mountain also offers 11 remarkable NC hiking trails that stretch 12 miles thru the park. Whether you want to take a leisurely stroll through the NC Mountains or want to explore the rugged terrain of the magnificent Blue Ridge, Grandfather Mountain has a trail to suit all needs with trails that range from easy to difficult. Young and old alike will enjoy the natural wildlife habitats. The viewing areas for the animals give NC Mountain visitors access to see black bears, river otters, cougars, bald eagles, golden eagles and white-tail deer in the natural surroundings while only standing a few feet away.
Grandfather Mountain also offers a Nature Museum, Gift Shop and restaurant. So if you forget to pack the picnic lunch, stop by the Museum Restaurant for sandwiches and chicken. Grandfather also has several special events that go on at the park such as Nature Photography Weekend, Singing on the Mountain, Highland Games & Gathering of the Scottish Clan, and The Professional and Amateur Camera Clinic.
