Hiking Grandfather Mountain
Hiking the NC Mountains wouldn’t be complete without a trip to picturesque Grandfather Mountain. The park offers over 12 miles of marked hiking trails. The terrain offers NC hiking for the casual walker or for avid hikers with trails that range from easy to moderate to difficult. At 5,964 feet, Grandfather Mountain is the highest peak in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Grandfather Mountain is home to the highest suspension bridge in the United States. The amazing structure is 228 feet long and 80 feet tall. It gets its “Mile High Swinging Bridge” name because it is one mile high in elevation. The bridge provides a gateway to the Linville Peak of Grandfather Mountain with amazing panoramic views that stretch out for miles in every direction. The views and photographic scenery bring professional photographers to the mountain to capture great family portraits as well as nature shots. Don’t forget your camera and make your own NC Mountain memories scrapbook at Grandfather Mountain.

Don’t forget to pack a picnic, but if you forget, chicken and sandwiches are available at the Nature Museum Restaurant.
