Horseback Riding
During your North Carolina mountain vacation, one of the greatest activities available is going Horseback Riding in NC. With stables located near Boone NC, West Jefferson NC and the mountains of VA, just about any NC Mountain Cabin that you stay at, you will be close to stables that rent horses and have guided trails thru the beautiful NC mountains. Burnt Hill Stables is located right in Ashe County NC and within about a 15-20 minute drive from our amazing vacation rental cabins.
For a change of scenery, and my personal favorite, Blowing Rock Stables provides guided tours thru Moses Cone Memorial Park in Blowing Rock NC just off the Blue Ridge Parkway. These rides will give you some of the most scenic and breathtaking landscapes available in the high country. For those hot summer days, travel on over to Virginia to the New River Trail. You’ll love the cool air coming off the picturesque New River.
If you have your own horse, boarding is available at Burnt Hill Stables and a trip to the Virginia Creeper Trail brings you back to a bit of history as you ride along the old railroad bed and cross 1,000 foot high bridges. The NC mountain pines look like toothpicks from atop these massive trestles the train used to run across. Horseback riding is an adventure for the whole family, so don’t forget the camera to capture every minute of your NC mountain Vacation at Ashe Cabin Fever.
