Tweetsie Railroad
Tweetsie Railroad is located in the scenic NC Mountains on Hwy 321 between Boone NC and Blowing Rock NC. Tweetsie provides a family fun adventure for young and old with shows, amusement park rides, shopping, food and deer park. The park favorite is the Wild West Train Adventure on the historic Steam Engine #12. The train ride circles the mountain and includes “Legends of the Old West” such as Wyatt Earp, Doc Holiday, Jessie James and Billy the Kid as they protect the train from renegade Indians.
Other shows include the Tweetsie Can-Can Dancers, Country Clogging Jamboree, Hopper & Porter’s™ Musical Celebration, Professor Peppercorn’s Magical Extravaganza and the Tweetsie Sunset Show. If shows aren’t your thing, there are amusement park rides for all ages.
For the older kids (we adults included) there’s the Free Fall, Tornado, Round Up, Tweetsie Twister and Tilt a Whirl. The rides for the little ones include The Mouse Mine Train Ride, Planes & Helicopters, F-80’s Ride, Ferris Wheel, Chairlift, Turnpike Cruisers and Boat Rides. Places to shop & eat are also abundant at the fantastic NC Mountain adventure. The Deer Park has been a Tweetsie favorite since the mid 70’s. As you enter the park, you can purchase a cone of food to feed the Pygmy Goats, European Fallow Deer, Nubian Goats, Emus, Llamas, Burros, Miniature Horses, Pot Bellied Pigs and Turkeys.
In addition to all these everyday attractions, Tweetsie Railroad NC also features special events throughout the season including visits from Thomas The Tank Engine, Dora The Explorer, Bob The Builder as well as a special fireworks event on Independence Day, Frisbee Dogs in late July, Riders In The Sky in August, Railfan Weekend in September and Ghost Train in October.
